The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on Friday that it has appointed Rajiv Ranjan and Sitikantha Pattanaik as executive directors effective May 1, 2022.
Prior to being promoted to Executive Director, Rajiv Ranjan was Advisor in charge of the Monetary Policy Department and Secretary of the Monetary Policy Committee.
Prior to being promoted to managing director, Pattanaik was an adviser to the Department of Economics and Policy Research (DEPR).
As executive director, Ranjan will handle the Department of Monetary Policy, while Pattanaik will handle the Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR), the RBI said.
Mr. Ranjan has over three decades of macroeconomic policy and research experience, including monetary policy, fiscal policy, real sector, external sector, and international relations.
He has worked in various departments of RBI, including the Monetary Policy Department, the Economic Policy and Research Department, the External Investments and Operations Department, and the International Department. He was an economic policy expert at the Central Bank of Oman for three years.
Mr. Pattanaik has, over a period of three decades, worked in economic research and monetary policy in the Monetary Policy Department and the Economic Policy and Research Department at RBI. He was at the Central Bank of Oman on a delegation from RBI for about five years
